Hi everyone! We’ve got quite a bit of news to share, so let’s break it down with subheadings.

This time we’re setting a theme that isn’t just "winter" but specifically New Year. The first version of your map must be uploaded to our system no later than November 15th. Our goal is to review and tweak everything in time for the New Year newspost. If you are from Russia, you will receive a cash prize (unfortunately, we cannot transfer funds abroad). Maps must meet all our standard minimum requirements and recommendations.

We recently encountered a case where I spotted illegal speed values ​​during strafing in a player's demo. An investigation revealed the culprit: a well-known patch for the CS "Legacy" version called CS Fixes. This patch adds quality-of-life features from the latest build to the client (most notably the FOV fix for 16:9 resolutions, though I’m not sure how people managed for the 20 years before it). However the file that was used had a name cs_patches.asi and circulated within the HNS community and it's different from the versions hosted on GitHub. In addition to the intended fixes, it altered game physics, which is strictly prohibited in our community. With that in mind, I’m warning you: if you do decide to use this patch, get it from GitHub rather than from some dubious source.

While player azure has already been featured in ROTW, the creator of this new video delete_the_elite is trying his hand at making an ROTW for the first time. The result is high-quality work, so let's hope inspiration strikes him again soon.


Three new community maps have made it through the new rule requiring demo recordings for submissions: hrcn_tsnm_cn by a mapper with a self-explanatory nickname a8521243, ym_hb_chuanshuo_h by a mapper we already know under a different alias EricCartman, and finally, www_bell_bell_h by Serwak, whose name is frequently seen on the forum and in chat these days. I’ve currently rated the first two as extreme difficulty. If you’ve finished them and think they’re harder, please share your thoughts. The third map is heading to the Hard server. All of them have been added to the EU, 100aa, and VIP servers. Thanks to issues identified during the demo recording process, they are beatable without mpbhop, making them eligible for demo recording on the site.
